Our Story
Fifth Avenue started out  with one common goal, world domination through 4-part harmony. This proved to be just one of many utopian ideals that catapulted "the Ave" onto that lofty perch inhabited by so many others who make vocal jazz their home...COMPLETE AND TOTAL OBSCURITY!

Realizing early on that fame, fortune, and a harmonically haunting rendition of "My Romance" didn't mix, Fifth Avenue turned their backs on father jazz, packed up the Ford van, and hit the road. Next stop...pop iconhood. Here's a few quotes from that fabled first tour.

"Dammit boys, leave some sandwiches for the guests"
Joe Duncaffe, Gen Mgr, The Ridpath Hotel, Spokane, WA

"You boyz'll be stayin in the doublewide out back"
Bill McQuirk, Owner, The Red Baron, Missoula, MT

"We just had to let them go"
Wanda Lynn, Food & Bev Mgr, AJ's, Rapid City, SD

"I just love your version of Smells Like Teen Spirit"
Anonymous

Though times were tough and artistry was scarce in those early years, the newly road hardened foursome managed to share the stage with several entertainers you may have actually heard of, such as: The Hi-Lo's, The Four Freshmen, Pete Barbutti, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Bill Cosby. After two years of Holiday Inns, low pay, and time away from loved ones, the boys decided to take a break... a very long break.

Fast forward to 2005...Las Vegas based Fifth Avenue returns to the music they so dearly love. "4 The Fun Of It", a collection of seven standards, two original compositions, and a mind twisting modulating classic movie medley is the result of arranger/composer Rob Hyatt's lifelong passion for the music of groups like The Hi-Lo's, Take 6, and The Singers Unlimited. Hyatt's brilliant arrangements, the group's ability to "sound as one", and the wonderfully crafted singing of Jerry Jones, Bryce Robinson and Jeff Celentano make this a must for any harmony lovers collection!

ROB HYATT (1st Tenor/lead) . . .
. . . is the vocal arranger for Fifth Avenue. He was influenced at a young age by the work of Gene Puerling (The Hilo's, The Singers Unlimited) and has spent most of his adult life chasing that long shadow. After the initial run with The Ave, he formed a Las Vegas style show band and rose quickly to the top of the lounge circuit in Las Vegas, where Fifth Avenue currently makes their home base. Now he has built a recording studio in his home, where the guys recorded the vocals for their album, and where he and his songwriting partner Jerry Jones try out new ideas. Rob is, by his own admission, a god among men.

JERRY JONES (Baritone/Lead) . . .
. . .was born at an early age. He began singing at the tender age of 9 and has not been able to be shut up since. In college, he sang with the internationally acclaimed vocal jazz group, Soundsation. From that group, he began his long association with Fifth Avenue. He has performed extensively at jazz festivals, conferences, conventions, workshops, clubs and on cruise ships. He is in demand as a studio singer, clinician, festival adjudicator and lyricist. He can sing the names of all the countries in the world in under three minutes, and by most accounts is an all-around nice guy.

BRYCE ROBINSON (Bass/Lead) . . .
. . .is the shy one of Fifth Ave. Mr. Robinson holds a degree in Music and Vocal Performance from Chapman University in Southern California and has over 20 years experience in the entertainment field specializing in musical and theatrical performance, production and education. His talent and personal charm has thrilled audiences across the country and abroad. He has performed on stage and in film/TV, on cruise ships, done voice-over work, been a vocal coach and music director, and provided singing workshops for national music outreach tours.

JEFF CELENTANO (2nd Tenor/Lead) . . .
. . .started his musical career by playing keyboard in bar bands long before he was old enough to drink. Coming from a mostly rock and roll background, Jeff has had the honor of sharing the stage with some classic artists such as America, The Little River Band, and even toured in the backing band for legendary founding member of the Beach Boys, Al Jardine. Jeff can also be seen performing in the Beach Boys tribute band, Good Vibrations and is a founding member of the popular indie pop band Tripsitter with whom he's released two critically acclaimed albums. As the newest addition to "The Ave", Jeff is honored to share in the harmoniacal happenings that have become a trademark of the Fifth Avenue sound.
